French lessons: Individual or Collective? Find the formula that suits you in France

Private French lessons in France :
Private French lessons are ideal for meeting specific needs, such as improving particular skills or preparing for an exam. Although this type of course is generally more expensive than a group course, it offers a personalized approach that allows you to progress quickly.

Intensive French lessons in international groups :
Group lessons bring together learners of different nationalities, promoting not only the learning of the French language, but also offering an enriching intercultural exchange. These classes often lead to lasting friendships with people from all over the world. Some schools offer courses specially designed for school groups accompanied by their teachers for one or two-weeks or more…

Learn French in France with teaching adapted to your specific needs

If you need to master the French language in a particular professional field such as business, tourism, health, technology, or media, choose a school that is a member of Groupement FLE that offers French courses for specific objectives (F.O.S. ). This type of programme will allow you to acquire language skills specific to your profession.

For those preparing to join a university in France, opt for French courses with a university objective (F.O.U.). These programs are specially designed to prepare you for the academic language demands of higher education in France.

If you wish to enrich your general learning of French (FLE) with some extra cultural activities, several schools offer programs integrating various themes such as French cuisine, the history of Art, or theatre. These courses allow you to explore French culture while improving your language skills.

Choosing a French school in France: Public school or private school?

Groupement FLE brings together 48 French schools in France, whether public or private, all offering high-quality French as a foreign language (FLE) training.

What is a private school?
A private school is managed by a private law entity, such as an association or a commercial company. It offers French courses in France with advantages such as flexibility of programmes, dates and durations. You will benefit from a personalized welcome, attentive monitoring, and classes with a reduced number of students, promoting a more intimate learning experience.

+

Private French schools offer unparalleled flexibility, a personalized environment and small class sizes. On the other hand, although these schools often issue student cards, they do not provide access to CROUS services.

What is a public school?
Public schools are directly linked to the French public administration. They offer French courses for foreigners at generally more affordable prices, and provide access to all University services, including the student card, CROUS services (university residences and restaurants), and the possibility to interact with French students on campus. However, the programs are more rigid, with courses organized according to university semesters.

+

Public French schools stand out for their attractive prices, access to university services and campus life, promoting cultural exchanges with French students. In return, the programs follow a strict academic calendar, with no possibility of flexibility. Often class sizes are bigger.

The quality of French schools in France

All Groupement FLE establishments are accredited by the FLE Quality label, guaranteeing excellent teaching quality. Among our members, 28 are public and private higher education establishments, all recognized for their seriousness. Public establishments may also have the “Bienvenue en France”, a guarantee of service specifically for international students.

What if I want to complement my FLE course with other activities in France?

All FLE schools in France offer a variety of cultural and fun activities to enrich your learning of French: workshops, guided tours, excursions, local events, sports, and much more. Check if the cost of these activities is included in the price of your French lessons, or if some require additional payment.

Remember that a successful language stay in France includes not only classroom learning, but also personal visits, trips and enriching discoveries. Ask at the reception desk of your French school to find out about the cultural resources available and the local sites to explore, alone or with other learners.
